Good morning America, early birds catch the worm so I'm up when the sun rises. I'm so glad last week is over I can't stand rainy wet weather, Santa Barbara sun please stay permanently! Moving right along last week was also a tough week for the gauchos. Since we last talked all star weekend passed and my predictions came through thanks Blake. Kobe killed in the game to let people know he still the king of la. I know everyone seen those trades, the .ba is getting more balance of power in the east and west which is good to see. I think the nba is becoming more competitive with guys trying to prove that the super teams can be beat on any given night right cars who beat the knicks the other night. so the other night I go to play intervals and the team were supposed to play doesn't show up, I was little frustrated because I wanted to hoop lol. Since I've been getting back in the groove I've been spending hours a day back in the lab making sure my game has no holes when I return to college ball next in 7 months. I've been feeling good no pain just soreness from our trainer Jeremy. He got me in 1 on 1 sessions, and for all who know me well know I hate weights but since I've kicked some bad health habits I've enjoyed seeing myself in the mirror lately ahaha.
As for the gauchos like I said we have had a rough 3 game stretch. Its hard to welcome march on a losing streak when your trying to catch momentum for the conference tournaments. What's funny is even though we are in 4th place or maybe 5th now we still have a chance to win the big west tourney. We havery what it takes and show it in spurts but we still haven't put it together which is scary because the potential is there. Its hard watching your team on national tv lay down and let teams step on our necks. I get frustrated because I know each and every player on this team plays hard but this is about pride and heart now. We have got to turn the ship around NOW. If not we will have a early exit and hey fans look up for next year I can promise we will get it right and give you guys a good year. I feel like if the attitude as a collective unit were the of a fighter we would have no problem. We don't have to do anything superhuman but just go out and compete. I see us still having a chance even though many have written us off. I just can't wait until its my turn to go out and show the world. My mouth gets watery. When I think about next year I'm hungry I won't let no one eat me alive. Well this week will be an emotional one as we say goodbye to our seniors Jordan jj and Jon. Those guys are a valuable piece to this team and all year have given us all they had. Ill definitely miss them next year as well as the fans and friends of them on the team. Jon and jj are my roommates so ill definitely be missing them. I've gotten close with jj since coming to school here so I'm sure ill see him again when he leaves.

The life and times...diary of Nate Garth vol.1
So I decided now im back playing and being involved with my team ill come at you guys from a different angle. Now I am slowly getting back into action with the team I would give you my reflections and thoughts as a player. So here it is NG11 basketball diary.
Hello world its the one and only aka the only one nate boogie lol. I hope all has been well for ll who are reading this because lately things sure have been looking up for me. Life has been great now I can actually participate in practice and drills. I love being out there with the team and coaches, even the managers at that. For all the real ballplayers out there you know the feeling you get a chance to find gym time. Shouts out to my family I love them so much for keeping me going. To my big brother, man you are the reason I do what I do. Moving right along school has been tough as always. I never understood why in america we have to attend school to play basketball instead of taking the foriegn way and allowing kids a choice. Ill never get the answer I want to hear lol, thanks mom for keeping me grounded in the classroom haha. Well all star weekend is here in the nba I say blake griffin wins the dunk contest and the east all stars win the game tomorrow. Did anyone see john wall drop 22 assists in the rookie game..niceeeeee
Man the squad has been doing good lately, even in practice. I see a different team everyday and its refreshing. I think we definately have a chance if we make our recent behaviors habits. I was happy to see alot of guys in the gym working on their games and getting shots up after practoce. Thats what it takes to be good, working hard even when others arent. These last 2 weeks of february amd the first two weeks of march are important. Teams are made nkw and I see the progression of the gauchos. Lets gooooooo. We play boise state tonight in the bracketbusters, sorry its not televised but hey its coo. big ups to james last game for recording that nasty double double. And did yall see jj drop those 12 dimes..niceeeee..i wanted to shout oit big greg lucas and will for having solid practices lately, I think it will definately start showing in.their play on the court in games. I think thats all I got for now, this new galaxy pad is clean I had the ipad but had to switch it up. Well be blessed everyone and come out to watch the game if your in sb.
There is no success without struggle. The struggle builds character and makes the reward so much sweeter.

The time is now
Welcome back everybody to ya boy boogies blog. Its been a week and some change but u know me boogie still the same lol. Welcome black history month, thanks to the pioneers who allowed people equal rights and somewhat of equal opportunity lol. It was a long week last week, but hey this week should be smooth, having 2 home games. Its just 8 more days until I'm done with physical therapy. This has been a rough 4 month stretch for me and I'm glad it's almost over. Vie learned a lot about myself and figured out how nice I was in NBA 2k11. Everyone knows that my boy j crawford and smooth Joe Johnson give that work, right oj prince jj and Ken..u see it lol..on a serious note being down has helped me learn the game even more than I did. I think I've picked up some new moves and a new jumpshot I borrowed from coach bromley. Thanks to all who have supported me and uplifted me while being down and out. Man school is killing me though. I got a paper and 2 midterms this week. Why do we have to go to school if I go to play basketball?? A question every athlete asks, just saying haha. NBA is still exciting, looking forward to all star weekend in la in 2 weeks. Hey if your ever bored at work or at school just YouTube Blake griffin. Hmmm talk about upsets in NCAA bball man its been a lot of movement lately, with a lot of teams falling at home and on the road. Here at ucsb we have been dealing with some of our own issues, where to begin....
Last week it was a rough week, losing at home to north ridge and beating cal poly on the road by a buzzer beater hit by james nunnally. I actually drove down to poly to see the game.I felt I needed to be there to support them and give them some direction. Since joining this team i have felt like we needed a leader, someone who has a voice that is heard. I have tried to take on that role but its hard when your not in the heat of the battle, I'm not playing so who's gonna listen to me? One major problem on this team is just that. That right there is the difference between good teams and great teams. Championship teams can function even when coach isn't around and can hold things together because the leader is the extension of the coach on the floor. Back to the game my bad. It was an exciting game at poly, going down to the wire. Thanks to a great set up by jj and even better shot by nun we survived. Orlando led us with 24 Pts. Against northridge we weren't so lucky. this game, too, went down to the wire. Nun had a chance to bury northridge with a 3 but decided to drive in as he missed the shot, luckily we retianed possession. We then had the ball out and we turned it over. Tough loss, especially at home. We as a team are looking for answers but one thing I see as a issue is the preparation. The dedication it takes to be good, the time it takes to be good, the grind it takes to be good doesn't exist in everyone on this team. It takes a team to win championships. I don't feel like this team hates to lose. To be a winner it must kill you to lose, make you want to play a rematch, but that's the competitiveness needed at the college level. Until this team hates to lose we will not win! I'll be reserved in my comments but hey you guys attend games, watch on tv, check stats, I just want to let you guys know the finger pointing isn't necessary. Each guy on this team needs to look in the mirror point the figure at themselves and demand change so we can make this run on into the conference tourney and NCAA tourney.
Until next time everybody- don't look for results until you do everything necessary to prepare yourself for the challenge...

Sorry for the delay
Ay everybody I know I took some time off but I been busy getting my life back in order. Happy new year to all lol..what's new in the world of Nate boogie..hmmm well as of today I have 2 more weeks of physical therapy and 4 more weeks until official clearance. It's almost that time people. Ucsb fans just 9 more months and I'll be getting things done in my #11 jersey. Rehab is going well, as you know it's frustrating but I think I'm doing a good job keeping up on my exercises. My jumper is looking more and more efficient thanks to coach bromley lol. Our motto is good to great! I just recently got back to lifting weights so my lil scronny body can get some muscles lol. All in all I've been happy with my recovery.
Has anyone been watching NBA lately. Most exciting season in awhile? Agree? Blake griffin has been tearing it up. San Antonio is just running through people with old school basketball hahaha. I watch a game every opportunity I get nowadays NBA is a lot more competitive especially whenever someone plays the heat they want blood(not literally). College ball looks wide open these days. You got guys who stand out but not like it was years ago when u had guys like melo, jay Williams, durant, etc. I was told the other day by my boy blew that he had never met someone who loves the game more than I do, that made my day. I live for the opportunity to play at the highest level and be a ambassador for the city of Sacramento, we haven't had a pro since Kevin Johnson.
On to the ucsb gauchos...we are really having a inconsistent season up to date. As all good teams do, we are going through a rough stretch right now. It seems that we taste success and then forget what it took to be successful. We started slow in the conf now 3-3 just dropped one last night at fullerton who has been playing well. I think we need to develop a identity I feel we have none. When guys aren't making shots their confidence goes which is another issue. Guys make shots guys miss shots one thing that has to be constant is the attitude of the team to do other things to compensate for lack of scoring. We have two guys who put out efficient offense as we all know but other guys need to establish themselves to have a impact on the outcome. Who's gonna grab 10 boards who's gonna drop 5+ assists who is gonna lockdown and create turnovers. The game these days is scewed up because athletes get enamored with scoring that you lose sight of other important things needed to win games. I'm frustrated with the effort guys put out but I can't do much about it as I don't have a uniform yet. Until we get out of our box, let the ego go, and not settle and be complacent with 2 wins over the lower teams in conf we won't quite reach the potential for this season and we will underachieve!
Well that's all I got folks, much love to the living scholars and the donors who give to the program. Big ups to my fam my girl and my squad. Let's turn this season around..it's never too late..

Progress.....15 weeks to go
Hey hey hey America what's happening. Man oh man no one warned me that the UC system was hard like this. Man I'm in my first finals week here and for once in my life I don't feel confident about my grades. I'm just saying is this undergrad or they think I'm trying to get a phd. Sad to say but my motto cs get degrees is in full effect..Been focusing on getting healthy. I'm one week away from walking without assistance. What's new in boogies world..hmmmm..oh I been putting on a lotta weight since being immobile which is a blessing in disguise. I finally wont have to lie about being 180 anymore I'm almost there ayyyyy. Oh yeah lately I been chef boyar Nate..I been in the kitchen whipping some masterpieces. 5 bucks a plate who want lol I'm kiddin but yo I can cook though. NBA season is starting to get boring so I def am looking forward to that Xmas game with la and Miami. Shout out to my boy c.brew bfor being all over kmart posters and for the upcoming lebron commercial. I see u making major moves. I'll be back in Mac town aka sactown next week to start my therapy, man time is flying I can't wait till my 6 week doctor visit ton Jan 10 to see if I'm all healed up and can start my rigorous comeback babyyyyyyyy.
My ucsb squadnhas been rolling since December started. We sitting at 2-0 this month and overall 4-3 going into a tough two game stretch against ranked opponents unlv and San Diego state. I think we can make a big splash in the eyes of the big west and country with a win over either team. Both are playing well but I believe we are gaining the confidence needed to contend with tougher opponents.we have been getting the production we were in desperate need of, big ups Jaime to a double double at Santa Clara. And is that a bird plane or just big Greg tossing shots like a fly swatter lol. Jon pastorek is a man on the offensive glass, getting putback after putback Last week Jaime had some nasty facial dunks..ugh I see u Carlos Santana lol. Our reserve backcourt is lead by Jordan who was huge in both games knocking down threes and playing solid defense. Boswell looked good in his first start. Will brew has looked for his offense more too, his drives opens up the floor. Jj is out with a hip injury go figure right but will be back in action against unlv. Oj has hit a wall offensively as teams are scouting him very close..they are recognizing his tendencies, time to switch it up. He has a unique skill set though which allows him to play around the basket or the wing. With better shot selection and choosing when to attack will help him get out his slump. I got faith he will be big at unlv. The man of the week is James nunnally. I honestly wasn't aware he could do some of the things he has shown these last two games. He has untapped potential a perfct NBA 2 guard body, if he can tie his athletic ability to his brains he could very well be the next nab guy from ucsb. He has competition though with Orlando and little ol me a hahaha. He showed up big in the LMU game recording a lite 29 and followed that up with a explosion of 34 points in the santa Clara game. Keep it up national attention will come your way. Well that's all I got for u for now, gotta go shower eat n get ready for practice. Peace love and hair grease lol classic....

I'm backkkkkk
Hey everyone, I've been gone for awhile but boogie is slowly but surely making it back to the social world. Well as we all know, the surgery went very well and I'm in the process of recovering. This is a long but manageable process, all I ask of my fan base is to lift me up every opportunity you get because for all that know me know that taking a ball from me is like taking a chunk of life from me. I'm in week 2 of my recovery, I am in full control of my leg now and can take a few steps without pain. Two more weeks of the crippled life and I'm back to walking. Oh how I enjoyed everyone catering to me, special shoutout to moms, big bro Matt, big sis Vic, can't one and only poppa Garth. I know I'm not the only onebwho gained weight over the holiday, boy I sure did grub. Being in this wheelchair has helped me appreciate life more and value opportunities people take for granted everyday. But hey no one or nothing will stop boogie cuz I'm still smiling babyyyyyy. The best is yet to come. I've gotten a chance to watch a lot of ball and I am learning so much of the game that I need to incorporate beforebheading to the next level. Blake griffin is a walking highlight, Derrick rose cannot be stopped, and Kenton all the questions you asked, MJ answered.LOL
So since I've been gone we have been 1-1, moving our record to a whopping 2-3. Inconsistent play stands out looking at the record and it's becoming a major issue. From speaking to players we have some toughness issues that need to be addressed asap. We handled Fresno state at home, led by orlandos huge performance of 35 points. He scored in every way possible shooting at a high clip 13-18. I wasn't there in physical but there in spirit. Our defense made progress in that game forcing turnovers and sticking to the script our trademark defense. Big Greg caught a nasty lob, I see you big G. We were rolling, taking the momentum to Portland before being slapped in the face by a hot shooting pilot team. Scouting report on Portland, they can SHOOT, the whole world knows and they did just that knocking down 12 3pointers. We got off to a slow start and trailed at half 37-15. Being down on the road is tough and takes a total team effort to mount a comeback. We climbed back in but I don't know too many teams who can recover from more turnovers than points at halftime. We were led by James nunnaly who had a solid 22 and 11, Orlando right behind with 18. It's frustrating to see my team struggle like this, no leadership and no toughness will get you nowhere. We as a team must come together and shake this off to have a better December before heading into conference. I can most certainly gaurantee to provide that spark and leadership role as soon as I hit the floor. I will promise you gaucho fans that when I return next year with the help of coaches and my teammates, I will bring prestige and dominance back to sb. Now gaucho fans stay positive it's a long year, we will hit our stride. Come check us out this wednsday in the thunder dome at 7 as we take on Orlando's former LMU team.

The big day
First and foremost thanks to all those who had me in prayer. The surgery went great and I am confident I'll return better than before. It was a fun experience to say the least lol. I have the best mom and brother I could ever ask for. They came down to help me get back on my feet, literally lol. On top of love from my teammates and my phat fat today wasn't all that bad. So recovery time is 3 to 5 months looking at a April return, just in time for spring workouts ayyyyyyyyy!!! Ahaha. I'll be in a wheelchair/ crutches for 4 weeks so if you see me on campus lend the crippled boy a hand, lol. Other than that I'm doing just fine, I feel like I'm floating on the moon taking these vicadin pills. No pain babyyyyy..
Enough about the crippled boogie, let's talk some gaucho hoops. Left to Oregon 0-0 and returned back 1-2. I wasn't able to make the trip so I don't have much of a first hand account but judging by the numbers and the talks with some people, we got some work to do. The first game against Denver we handled our business and won comfortably. Like every game we had last weekend we had gotten off to a slow start, but in this game we pulled it out. As expected, Orlando and James did most of the scoring each in double figures. James had 17 Orlando 16. Next up we had north Dakota state, which gave us all we could handle. From what I hear we couldn't throw the ball in the ocean. North Dakota state shot lights out. We end up losing the game 68-60. Orlando led us in scoring, getting a hard earned 30 which was a career high. Last up we had the host team univ of Oregon. We were tested, how can we rebound from a loss on the road. We proved to show we were battle tested as we took Oregon down to the wire. No true basketball player likes to blame the refs but on Orlando's last drive to the bucket I hear he got hacked which would of been the go ahead bucket to bring it home. But whistle didn't blow and we end up losing 72-70. Once again james led us in scoring having 28 and Orlando gave us 24.
Now from looking at stats and listening to the radio I feel the need to challenge my teammates to step up. We need a Jaime Greg and Lucas to provide that inside force to keep the defenses honest. Our guards had trouble putting it in the hole and controlling the tempo at times. Someonehas to step up and become a dependable 3rd scorer to help the load of nun and oj. Our defensive mindset must be there at all times also, ball hungry and tenacious. All in all I feel we I'll continue to make at rides. Don't be alarmed we won't disappoint come big west and march.
Hope to see you out for saturdays home game against Fresno state. Other than that continue to pray for the kid for a aped recovery and be blessed friends and family.
