It's that time again

Well to all my family friends and followers my college basketball career is over. Needless to say this isn't the end of my basketball career though. I will embark on a new journey, the life of a pro basketball player. Pro means I can be in any league whether it is in America or in Europe, regardless if the location, I will be honored to have the opportunity to earn a living doing what I love to do. If you want to continue to follow my journey I will be creating an Instagram page when I know where I will end up. Won't give you all the information yet but the future looks promising even though my past hasn't always shown that to be true lol. Thanks to all those who supported me in my time at New Mexico and uc Santa Barbara I have greatly appreciated it. You guys supported me through the good the bad and the ugly. Love y'all!

The beginning

Well gaucho fans the time is here. Our last night in Santa Barbara before our trip of a lifetime to Canada. We will tour 3 cities in 10 days. We have a 5 game schedule against some solid Canadian teams. We plan on coming back 5-0! This should be a nice start to a memorable year. We will have alot of fun as a team, as we have a full schedule doing things outside ball as well. This trip will do us well because we are going to have alot of time together, no phones and we may not have internet. We have already started doing alot of team bonding exercises, warming up for our trip. We will come back to santa barbara with a better understanding of each other on and off the court. Everyone seems excited from the coaches to the players and our friends and family. Its been a long time coming for me individually, its been so long since I played a game. Gotta shake the rust off.

We have had 10 successful practices, ugly at first but we definitly have got it going in the right direction. I felt like a freshman again learning a new system, learning the nuances of the defense, and knowing what I can and can't do. It was frustrating at first but I have gotten the hang of things, not where I need to be quite yet, but in time I will get there. The freshman have really showed a good understanding of their roles and they are responding well to coaching and the new system. There was a Keegan siting today and boy did he look good. He's definitely a good player and is going to help us. I am so juiced to play with the returnees and the new guys. I'm like a kid on Christmas eve who cant sleep in anticipation for what's to come. I'll be trying to update as best as I can while were gone. Wish us luck!

P.s- go check out my commercial on YouTube tell me what you think ahaha

I'm back at it...

Today is the day that kicks of my junior season. This day I have waited for, for a year now. I'm so amped to get back on the court full strength. I'm even more juiced to put on my #1 ucsb jersey. Couldn't thank God, my family, friends, and fans enough for their support through my rough year last year. Ok so I know I been Mia off the blogging but I had to get myself ready for this journey ahead, as we are on our quest to be a 3 time back to back to back NCAA tournament team. I'll be on here weekly to update everyone on ucsb basketball and me, fun right? On another note, Congrats to oj and Greg for making it on their national teams and are representing well.

It is Now 2 weeks before we head to Canada. We are a little shorthanded as keegan is still recovering, oj and Greg in china, and John green still in his boot. We still will have a full on 3 hr practice full of learning. We get 10 days to hit the floor before we go, and trust me the way coach stock is talking, we will be in there for hours ahahaha. This will be a test to see how quick we can jell before playing 5 games abroad. There was a nice article in the SB news press if any read the paper, on last Thursday. I am eager to kick off this season with expectations high as they are and all the hard work we have put it, I think we are almost ready to exceed those challenges and embark on this memorable 2011-2012 season. That's it for me today I gotta go eat now and get my pre practice routine going. Much love everyone and enjoy ya weekend, until next weekend peace love and happiness!

Good season..Redshirt year is over

I would like to first shout out the squad as we fought our way into the ncaa tourney and went up against a tough Florida team. They got us by a big margin but we played as hard as we could. It hurt watching the guys go down like that, we are better than that but thing happen. I am now excited for the upcoming season as i am really apart of the team. Not being apart of the group was tough for me this year. Being a redshirt means you cant travel, cant play, basically its not fun. Its spring break so im out here in sacramento having fun but as soon as I get back to SB its time for business. I got about 7 months until things get real, and i wanna be more than prepared. Its been fun watching the team, im going to miss the seniors man they were all good teammates and good people. Cant wait to welcome in the incoming freshmans, its going to be fun going at the youngsters, lol. Shoutout to taran brown for being gatorade player of the year in wyoming. And to jaime u gonna be alright man keep your head up your strong you will get through this. Until next season fans, much love......

Back to back

Man we pulled it off..after a long and underacheiving season they out together the best 3 game stretch all year. It was very fun to watch the team play together making extra passes, extra effort on the defensive end, and most importantly playing with a chip on their shoulder. I enjoyed watching good basketball all weekend and we were definately one of the better teams ive watched. Ive challenged the guys alot on and off the floor and they responded well. I wanna say a special shout out to jaime and jon they really stepped their games up this weekend. The defesnive effort of jj on casper ware was huge. We not only swept 3 games in 3 days but those same teams handled us pretty well in the conf was alot different this year not really being apart of a team. Being a redshirt is tough but the team has definately helped keep my spirits up. They made me proud. Now its gonna be even better next year when we 3 peat. I had alot of fun on the trip too riding down with tyler aka shitbrick. Memories ahaha is all I can say. It was also good meeting alot of alumni and boosters who are excited to see me play next year. I will do my best not to let you guys down or fall short of another championship. I believe we have the talent here and coming in for the next few years to make big west championships a tradition here at ucsb. I cant wait to see our seed and where we play. Look forward to watching the game on tv. Lets go gauchos lets play hard whoever we play wherever we play.

Feeling like I'm back

Good morning America, early birds catch the worm so I'm up when the sun rises. I'm so glad last week is over I can't stand rainy wet weather, Santa Barbara sun please stay permanently! Moving right along last week was also a tough week for the gauchos. Since we last talked all star weekend passed and my predictions came through thanks Blake. Kobe killed in the game to let people know he still the king of la. I know everyone seen those trades, the .ba is getting more balance of power in the east and west which is good to see. I think the nba is becoming more competitive with guys trying to prove that the super teams can be beat on any given night right cars who beat the knicks the other night. so the other night I go to play intervals and the team were supposed to play doesn't show up, I was little frustrated because I wanted to hoop lol. Since I've been getting back in the groove I've been spending hours a day back in the lab making sure my game has no holes when I return to college ball next in 7 months. I've been feeling good no pain just soreness from our trainer Jeremy. He got me in 1 on 1 sessions, and for all who know me well know I hate weights but since I've kicked some bad health habits I've enjoyed seeing myself in the mirror lately ahaha.

As for the gauchos like I said we have had a rough 3 game stretch. Its hard to welcome march on a losing streak when your trying to catch momentum for the conference tournaments. What's funny is even though we are in 4th place or maybe 5th now we still have a chance to win the big west tourney. We havery what it takes and show it in spurts but we still haven't put it together which is scary because the potential is there. Its hard watching your team on national tv lay down and let teams step on our necks. I get frustrated because I know each and every player on this team plays hard but this is about pride and heart now. We have got to turn the ship around NOW. If not we will have a early exit and hey fans look up for next year I can promise we will get it right and give you guys a good year. I feel like if the attitude as a collective unit were the of a fighter we would have no problem. We don't have to do anything superhuman but just go out and compete. I see us still having a chance even though many have written us off. I just can't wait until its my turn to go out and show the world. My mouth gets watery. When I think about next year I'm hungry I won't let no one eat me alive. Well this week will be an emotional one as we say goodbye to our seniors Jordan jj and Jon. Those guys are a valuable piece to this team and all year have given us all they had. Ill definitely miss them next year as well as the fans and friends of them on the team. Jon and jj are my roommates so ill definitely be missing them. I've gotten close with jj since coming to school here so I'm sure ill see him again when he leaves.

The life and times...diary of Nate Garth vol.1

So I decided now im back playing and being involved with my team ill come at you guys from a different angle. Now I am slowly getting back into action with the team I would give you my reflections and thoughts as a player. So here it is NG11 basketball diary.

Hello world its the one and only aka the only one nate boogie lol. I hope all has been well for ll who are reading this because lately things sure have been looking up for me. Life has been great now I can actually participate in practice and drills. I love being out there with the team and coaches, even the managers at that. For all the real ballplayers out there you know the feeling you get a chance to find gym time. Shouts out to my family I love them so much for keeping me going. To my big brother, man you are the reason I do what I do. Moving right along school has been tough as always. I never understood why in america we have to attend school to play basketball instead of taking the foriegn way and allowing kids a choice. Ill never get the answer I want to hear lol, thanks mom for keeping me grounded in the classroom haha. Well all star weekend is here in the nba I say blake griffin wins the dunk contest and the east all stars win the game tomorrow. Did anyone see john wall drop 22 assists in the rookie game..niceeeeee

Man the squad has been doing good lately, even in practice. I see a different team everyday and its refreshing. I think we definately have a chance if we make our recent behaviors habits. I was happy to see alot of guys in the gym working on their games and getting shots up after practoce. Thats what it takes to be good, working hard even when others arent. These last 2 weeks of february amd the first two weeks of march are important. Teams are made nkw and I see the progression of the gauchos. Lets gooooooo. We play boise state tonight in the bracketbusters, sorry its not televised but hey its coo. big ups to james last game for recording that nasty double double. And did yall see jj drop those 12 dimes..niceeeee..i wanted to shout oit big greg lucas and will for having solid practices lately, I think it will definately start showing in.their play on the court in games. I think thats all I got for now, this new galaxy pad is clean I had the ipad but had to switch it up. Well be blessed everyone and come out to watch the game if your in sb.

There is no success without struggle. The struggle builds character and makes the reward so much sweeter.
